About the Huachuma (San Pedro) Ceremony
At our retreat, we honor the ancient medicine of Huachuma (San Pedro) with deep respect and care. This sacred cactus has been used in the Andes for centuries as a teacher of the heart, guiding participants into clarity, compassion, and profound connection with life.
Your safety, well-being, and integration are at the heart of everything we do.
Participant Screening & Safety
Every participant completes a confidential intake form and consultation before the retreat. This ensures that Huachuma is safe and appropriate for you.
We carefully review health history and medications, and those with contraindications (such as certain heart conditions, uncontrolled high blood pressure, psychiatric medications, pregnancy, or severe untreated mental health concerns) will not be admitted into the ceremony.
This process protects the well-being of everyone who joins us.
Preparation for Ceremony
To prepare body, mind, and spirit, we ask participants to follow simple guidelines:
Light, plant-based meals for 2–3 days before the ceremony
Avoid alcohol, recreational substances, red meat, and heavily processed foods
Dedicate time to rest, hydration, and gentle practices like yoga, journaling, or meditation
Set an intention for your journey to open your heart to the medicine’s wisdom
Ceremony Facilitator & Lineage
Our Huachuma ceremony is guided by Natalie Storbacka, a devoted practitioner working closely with the Q’ero lineage of the Andes. Natalie carries this tradition with humility, reverence, and deep respect, weaving the wisdom of her teachers into a safe and grounded ceremonial space.
Virginia Underwood, retreat host and spiritual guide, offers additional energetic and emotional support throughout your journey, weaving her background in transformational coaching, energy work, and shamanic practices into the experience.
Together, we hold a safe, loving, and grounded container for your process.
The Medicine
Our Huachuma is sourced with integrity from trusted local growers in the Sacred Valley, prepared respectfully and sustainably in alignment with Andean traditions. We honor the spirit of the plant and the communities that have carried its wisdom forward.
During Ceremony
The ceremonial space will be carefully prepared with intention, creating an atmosphere of safety, reverence, and openness.
Group sizes are kept small for individualized care
Natalie and trained assistants will be present at all times
Harm reduction strategies are in place, including grounding techniques and one-on-one support when needed
Each participant is lovingly guided and supported throughout their journey
Emergency Preparedness
Though emergencies are rare, we are fully prepared:
Access to local medical services and transportation is available
First aid support is on hand
Our facilitators are trained to respond with clarity and calm to any physical, emotional, or psychological needs
Integration Support
The true medicine unfolds long after the ceremony ends. To support this process, we provide:
Group integration circles the following day
Journaling prompts and grounding practices
Optional follow-up integration calls online or in person
Resources for continuing your integration at home
With intention, care, and respect, this retreat creates a safe and supportive environment for your healing, awakening, and reconnection.
