THERE IS A story about a donkey who fell down a dry well. No matter what he did, he couldn't climb out. He brayed and brayed until finally someone came along and after seeing him down there, began to shove dirt on top of the donkey. At first the donkey was offended, “how dare they bury me down here!” So he shook the dirt off and stepped up. Each time a shovelful fell, the donkey shook himself off and stepped up. On and on this went, until finally as the light began to hit his eyes, he realized that he was at the top of the well. The donkey stepped out of the well.
